We are lucky in Citrus County to have so many great playgrounds and parks to explore. From swings to slides, to climbing walls and water features, Citrus County parks and playgrounds keep my kids active, are a great place to meet old friends (and make new friends!), and they're FREE!
I often see people asking about which ones are the best. When I moved here 10 years ago the first thing I did was google what playgrounds were close to us. I'll be featuring parks from a specific part of the county each week for a few weeks and also adding them in the Parks and Playgrounds directory.
Locations are listed alphabetically:

Bluebird Springs Park
8950 W Bluebird Springs Lane
Homosassa, FL 34448
What we love about Bluebird Springs Park:
Blubird Springs in Homosassa is often overlooked by those not utilizing the dog park. It's actually my favorite park in the county. To me it's the perfect balance of recreation and nature. Although the Spring area is not a swimming location, it is great or watching the fish and birds. We've even spotted a small gator.

Kings Bay Park
268 NW 3rd St
Crystal River, FL 34429
What we love about Kings Bay Park:
Kings Bay Park is another smaller park. Not far from Hunter Springs, it can be a good place to play away from the big crowds the Springs attract. The down fall to this park is the parking fee.
